How to discount express shipping for larger orders on Shopify
Short answer: Take 50% off rates named Express when the cart subtotal is 150 or more. In Checkpost, choose “Half-price express shipping over $150” from Templates, adjust the values, test it, then save and enable the rule.
The problem
Shoppers with larger orders often want faster delivery but balk at the express price. A partial discount on express makes the upgrade easier without giving it away.
How to set it up
- Install Checkpost from the Shopify App Store.
- Open Templates and choose Half-price express shipping over $150.
- Set the amount, the percentage and the rate names.
- Use Try this rule to test a sample cart, then click Save rule.

Where this rule works
This changes existing delivery options; it does not create rates, change their prices or configure pickup. Address conditions are evaluated for each delivery group's own address. Product-tag conditions inspect the whole cart. Verify that an eligible delivery option remains.
Tips
- Percentages apply to each matching rate's own price, so carrier-calculated rates stay accurate.
- Combine with a free standard shipping rule: list the cheaper threshold first.
- When two discount rules match the same rate, the first rule in your list wins.
