How to limit Shopify local delivery to specific ZIP codes

Short answer: Hide the local delivery option unless the shipping ZIP / postal code is in your delivery area. In Checkpost, choose “Hide local delivery outside your ZIPs” from Templates, adjust the values, test it, then save and enable the rule.

The problem

Local delivery that reaches the wrong neighbourhood means a long drive or a cancelled order. Stores with a fixed delivery area want the option shown only where their van actually goes.

How to set it up

1. Install Checkpost from the Shopify App Store.
2. Open Templates and choose Hide local delivery outside your ZIPs.
3. Replace the ZIP prefixes with your delivery area.
4. Use Try this rule to test a sample cart, then click Save rule.

The rule

Hide delivery methods containing "Local delivery" when all of these conditions is true:

• ZIP / postal code starts with none of 100, 101, 102

Shoppers see no message: the methods are changed before checkout shows them.

Where this rule works

This changes existing delivery options; it does not create rates, change their prices or configure pickup. Address conditions are evaluated for each delivery group's own address. Product-tag conditions inspect the whole cart. Verify that an eligible delivery option remains.

Tips

• List ZIP / postal code prefixes: "100" covers every code starting with 100. Spaces are ignored.
• Use the exact title of your local delivery rate if other rates also contain the word "local".

Can you do this without an app?

Shopify's local delivery settings can already limit delivery by postal code or radius. Use this rule when the local rate comes from an app or a shipping rate that Shopify's zones don't cover.

FAQ

What happens before the shopper enters an address?

Delivery options are only calculated once there is an address, so the rule always sees the ZIP code.

Can I rename local delivery for some areas instead?

Yes. Switch the rule to Rename, for example to show "Local delivery (next day)" in outer ZIP codes.
